About this day out

Wirral Archives is located on the Lower Ground Floor of the Cheshire Lines Building in Birkenhead. No appointment is necessary, but visitors are advised to contact the service beforehand to confirm the records they require are available. First-time visitors must bring photo ID and proof of current address to obtain a Reader Card, and pencils only are allowed in the search room.

Free parking for visitors in the car park on Shore Road, next to the Cheshire Lines Building, in the numbered spaces in front of the big stone wall or the first three unnumbered spaces (a permit is provided). Two disabled spaces available. Other car parks nearby on Bridge Street (first 45 minutes free), Elgin Way, and Cleveland Street.
