About this day out

Stone sculptures and scarce wildlife make this former quarry, worked commercially from c.1780-1982, an interesting and unusual site to visit. The quarry's limestone remnants now host sculptures, while the bare mined surfaces have regenerated naturally with uncommon plants such as rock stonecrop and Portland spurge and many rare lichens. The reserve is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and offers views over Chesil Beach and Portland Harbour to Weymouth and Bridport.

Accessibility: Some wide gravel tracks, mostly level, with a gentle slope into the quarry from the car park. Visitors should be aware of some sheer rock faces, steep slopes and, in places, loose stones underfoot.
Parking: Small car park on site, found on the right hand side at the end of the industrial estate off Tradecroft Road.
Dogs: Dogs allowed on a lead; dog mess must be removed from site.
