About this day out
The Tomb of the Eagles (Isbister Chambered Cairn) is a Stone Age tomb perched above the South Ronaldsay cliffs in Orkney, discovered by chance by local farmer Ronnie Simison in the 1950s. The site revealed a collection of bones and artefacts placed there some 5,000 years ago and is one of Orkney's top archaeological sites. Visitors can enjoy a hands-on experience at the Visitor Centre, including handling original artefacts, and a stunning one-mile walk to the tomb via a Bronze Age site.

Open 7 days from 10am; last entry at 3.30pm, site and car park close at 5pm. The site closes for the season after Sunday, October 18th.
