Blue Light Card holders and HM Armed Forces & Veterans get 10% off (not available online).

About this day out

Tintern Abbey is a roofless Gothic masterpiece still standing on the banks of the River Wye, founded in 1131 by Cistercian monks. The abbey church begun in 1269, with its great west front and seven-lancet window, is regarded as one of the masterpieces of British Gothic architecture. It surrendered in the first round of Henry VIII's dissolution of the monasteries and slowly became a majestic ruin.

Parking: Large pay & display car park near the abbey entrance with approx. 55 spaces, including 5 disabled spaces, plus dedicated coach parking and an overflow car park with 25 spaces. £5, card only; the charge is refunded on any spend of £5 or more in the abbey and to Cadw members. Four EV charging points available (charges apply).
Dogs: Yes — dogs on short leads are welcome in ground floor levels of the site.
