The experience

About this day out

Tile Wood is one of the earliest ancient woods recorded in south-east Essex and acts as an important wildlife corridor in the Daws Heath woodland landscape, linking the Little Haven and Pound Wood nature reserves. The 7-hectare woodland is particularly beautiful in spring when ancient woodland plants such as wood sorrel, bluebell and wood-rush carpet the floor. It is home to rare wild service trees and thousands of southern wood ants that build large thatched mounds.
