The experience

About this day out

Ledbury Market House is a 17th century market building begun in 1617, raised on sixteen oak pillars with a timber frame and brick infill, and popularly attributed to architect John Abel. Today it is mainly used for meetings, sales and exhibitions, and on market days traders still sell their wares beneath it under a charter dating from the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. Much of what visitors see today, including the windows, staircase, floor and staging, dates from Victorian changes of use to a town hall and meeting room.
