The experience
About this day out
Clare Ancient House Museum is a volunteer-run museum in a Grade I listed, 14th-century timber-framed building on Clare High Street, noted for its fine decorative pargeting. It stages a new themed exhibition each year from Easter to September (for 2026: 'UNEARTHED: WHAT TIME LEFT BEHIND') alongside a permanent exhibition about Clare's medieval history. Entry is free and the museum relies on donations, also raising funds by selling homemade jams, jellies, chutneys and marmalades.
