About this day out
The Nature Discovery Centre (NDC) is a BBOWT visitor centre between Thatcham and Newbury, a short distance off the A4, set among woodland, orchard, lakeside and reedbed habitats. Visitors can explore a network of footpaths, watch birds from hides, feed the ducks and use the adventure playground. On-site there is also a lakeside café, gift shop and spaces available for hire.

Opening calendar
Visitor Centre (including café, shop and toilets): Tuesday-Sunday 10am-4pm; Monday closed (open during school holidays). Car park locked at dusk year-round.

- The centre, café and toilets are wheelchair accessible. The Red Trail around the lake is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs, and a mobility Tramper vehicle is available to borrow free of charge on a first come, first served basis (optional £5 suggested donation). There are gentle slopes, gates, benches, and unsurfaced paths that may become muddy in wet weather; trails are suitable for all abilities.

- Dogs are welcome on a lead in the café, shop and around the nature reserve, but should not be allowed into the lake or to disturb wildlife.
