The experience

About this day out

Sitting close to the clear chalk-stream waters of the River Wensum, this former gravel pit is now a wonderful lake, rich in wildlife. The tranquil waters attract a variety of duck species, including shoveler, gadwall, pochard and tufted duck, with goldeneye and goosander regular winter visitors, and kingfishers often seen. A circular path around the 12-hectare reserve makes it a perfect place for a pleasant stroll any time of year, with winter the best time for wildfowl.
