About this day out

South Shields Museum & Art Gallery celebrates the rich heritage of South Tyneside and the people who shaped it. Managed by North East Museums on behalf of South Tyneside Council, it is spread over two floors, with exhibition displays, a shop and café on the ground floor and an art gallery holding regular exhibitions on the first floor. The museum hosts changing exhibitions, events and activities throughout the year.

Coaches and taxis can drop off in the layby on Anderson Street or at nearby Mile End Road. 3–5 minute walk from South Shields Interchange (Metro and bus).
