About this day out
Sirhowy Hill Woodlands is a local nature reserve in Tredegar, Blaenau Gwent, accessible via the Thomas Ellis Way gate. The site features three ponds, a tree nursery, a community garden and a heritage orchard, and is home to a wide variety of fauna and flora including wildflowers, ferns, mosses, newts, frogs and herons. It was proudly awarded the Green Flag Community Award for 2026/27.
When to go
Opening calendar
Open Mon–Sun; access via the Thomas Ellis Way gate. Tree Nursery sessions every Saturday 10am–12pm; Community Garden open every Wednesday 10am–12pm.
