About this day out
This coastal reserve near Shaldon offers views over Lyme Bay and was taken on by the RSPB to help secure the future of the Cirl Bunting, a rare bird whose population is almost entirely restricted to south Devon. The reserve is also home to Peregrines, Buzzards and Yellowhammers, while dolphins and Basking Sharks swim out in the bay. The famous South West Coast Path loops through the reserve, which is part of a working farm grazed by cattle in summer and sheep in winter.

- No accessible facilities on-site; nearest public toilets 1 mile (1.5 km) away at Maidencombe but only open in summer. Steps on steeper slopes (approaching 35 degrees), numerous gates and stiles (the reserve has cattle, sheep and ponies), unsurfaced paths which can be uneven and muddy, and no seating.
- Parking
- 50 spaces. Owned by Teignbridge District Council, situated at the reserve entrance. No height restrictions. Bike racks (not covered).
- Dogs
- Assistance and other dogs welcome. Dogs are only allowed on public footpaths and bridleways; as this is a working farm with livestock, dogs must be kept under control at all times. Assistance dogs are welcome in all parts of the reserve.
