Roydon Woods Nature Reserve near Brockenhurst is an impressive patchwork of wildlife-rich habitats, including grassy meadows and ancient copses of conifer and hazel. The 387-hectare reserve is home to many birds and mammals, including great spotted woodpeckers, nuthatches, skylarks and badgers, and is perfect for birders and wildlife enthusiasts. Spring brings a carpet of bluebells beneath the beech trees, while autumn is the time to hear stags roaring.

- A wide variety of underfoot conditions may be encountered. Walking trails are rough, unsurfaced and uneven with steep and wet sections; visitors must stay on bridleways and permissive paths. Contact the Trust for disabled access information. Entry via the bridleway beside the Filly Inn on the A337, Tile Barn Lane, Sandy Down Lane, the bridleway behind Boldre church, or Roundhill campsite.
