About this day out

Pleasley Colliery, known locally as Pleasley Pit, is a coal mining heritage site in Derbyshire with over 150 years of history, housed in Victorian pit buildings that are a Scheduled Monument. It features an interactive museum with steam winding engines, artefacts and photographs, plus a visitor centre, café and shop run by the Pleasley Pit Trust and volunteers. The site also includes Pleasley Pit Country Park and Local Nature Reserve, a reclaimed colliery site with footpaths, a lake, ponds and an extensive cycle path network.
