About this day out
The Old Low Light is a heritage centre in Clifford's Fort on North Shields Fish Quay that tells the story of North Shields, its Fish Quay and its people through exhibitions, events, videos, talks and guided walks. The Grade 2 listed building, the oldest surviving occupied building on the Fish Quay, once served as one of two leading lights guiding ships through the treacherous mouth of the River Tyne and opened as a heritage centre in 2015. It also features a cafe with an indoor and outdoor terrace seating, a shop stocking local goods, and hosts musical events and community activities.
