This small 2-hectare wetland reserve in the southern Yorkshire Wolds is fed by several clear chalk springs that have almost never been known to dry up and stay at a constant 9°C all year. Flowers flourish through spring and summer, with snipe visiting in winter. The site is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and is classed as common land.

- Limited access for wheelchair users as there are no defined footpaths. Very wet underfoot all year round, so wellington boots are advised; there are two kissing gates onto the reserve and very poor phone signal.
- Parking
- No official car park, but a grass verge can accommodate four cars on a quiet country road; from verge to entrance is about 50m. Visitors can also park considerately in the village.

- No dogs permitted
