About this day out

The Museum of Antiquities at Eton College holds over 6,000 objects covering a vast geographical and chronological frame, from Australia to Afghanistan and from Peru to Babylon. Highlights include a world-class collection of Egyptian faience, Egyptian death masks and portraits, a small collection of mummified remains, cuneiform tablets from Mesopotamia, Greek ceramics collected by Sir William Hamilton, and flint hand-axes predating homo sapiens. The collection is displayed in the purpose-built Jafar Gallery on South Meadow Lane, Eton.

Accessibility: The Museum of Antiquities is on one floor, accessed by stairs with a handrail and a staff-operated lift. There is an accessible toilet in Jafar Hall. Handling sessions and touch-tables may be available, large-print guides and catalogues are provided, and assistance dogs are welcome.
Parking: Two council-run public car parks are close to Eton College: Eton Court (Eton, SL4 6BY) and Meadow Lane (Eton, SL4 6BS). Disabled parking is available with 48 hours' notice. Coach access is very limited.
Dogs: Assistance dogs are welcome; visitors are asked to inform the museum before visiting if accompanied by one.
