The experience

About this day out

Moorlands Nature Reserve is a 7-hectare woodland in York, North Yorkshire, and part of the ancient Forest of Galtres. Formerly an Edwardian woodland garden, it became Yorkshire Wildlife Trust's second nature reserve in 1955 and features old trees, wooden sculptures, a nature trail, and a tree house that doubles as a bird hide. The reserve is at its finest in spring with a spectacular collection of rhododendrons and azaleas, plus snowdrops, bluebells, primroses and wood sorrel.
