About this day out
Llanfrechfa Grange Walled Garden is a community project to restore the old garden, sited on land owned by NHS Wales adjacent to Grange University Hospital. Following its official opening on 30th April 2022, the garden is open to visitors via north and south wrought iron gates whenever volunteers are working, and it received the Green Flag Award in 2026. It hosts community events such as the annual Have a Grow Day, gardening workshops with professional horticulturalists, and a St David's Day celebration.
When to go
Opening calendar
Open every day while volunteers are working in the garden, generally 10:00-13:30, and longer on Mondays, Tuesdays and Sundays when volunteering continues into the afternoon; a hand bell is rung 5 minutes before closing. Entry is via the north side gates (adjacent to Grange University Hospital) and the south side wrought iron gates.
