Kempton Steam Museum, located within Thames Water's working pumping station in southwest London, is home to the Sir William Prescott Engine, the world's largest working triple-expansion steam engine, built in 1927 to pump up to 19 million gallons of London's drinking water a day. Its twin, the Lady Bessie Prescott Engine, is currently being restored by volunteers, and both sit inside a Grade II* listed Portland stone engine house crowned by two chimneys known as King and Queen. The museum runs steaming weekends and special events such as a Stirling Engines exhibition and Car & Bike Show.
