About this day out

Ingleborough Cave, first discovered in 1837 by Victorian explorers, is a well-lit show cave that journeys 500m beneath Ingleborough in the Yorkshire Dales. Visitors take a self-guided route along concrete footpaths with no steps, walking 0.6 miles (1km) in total, and the cave stays a cool 8°C year round. Access is via the 1.3-mile Ingleborough Estate Nature Trail, with The Old Sawmill Café at the trail entrance.

Accessibility: Two electric all-terrain trampers are available free of charge twice a day (10am–12:45pm or 1pm–4pm) on the 1.23-mile Nature Trail. A bespoke manual wheelchair can be used to explore all 0.6 miles of the cave passages, but a suitable pusher must accompany the user. There are two disabled bays at the Nature Trail entrance, and accessible toilets at The Old Sawmill Café and the shop at the cave entrance. The cave route follows concrete footpaths with no steps and two short stooping sections.
Parking: Two disabled bays at the entrance to Ingleborough Estate Nature Trail (Sat Nav LA2 8DS), available first come first served. Clapham village has a Yorkshire Dales National Park car park (Sat Nav LA2 8EA) accepting cash or card. Limited roadside parking is available.
Dogs: Yes — dogs are welcome on the trail, in the cave and in The Old Sawmill Café, provided they are well behaved and kept on a lead.
