About this day out
Renowned for its Jurassic fossil interest, this former Great Western Railway cutting is also a wildlife gem for birds, butterflies and flowers. The 8-hectare reserve has open limestone grassland in the southern section and woodland and scrub in the northern section. The woodland is currently closed due to ash dieback, with the southern grassland section still accessible from Cow Lane.
