NWT Honeypot Wood is a small ancient woodland nature reserve, 6km west of East Dereham, rich in wildlife, history and character, and designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The 9-hectare wood hosts ancient woodland indicator wildflowers such as dog's mercury, wood anemone, herb-paris and greater butterfly orchid, and is thought to be a remnant of wild wood dating back to the retreat of the last ice age. During the Second World War the wood housed bomb storage for the adjacent RAF Wendling.
