The experience

About this day out

Hermitage Field Community Meadow is a 5.5 acre field in the parish of Halton-with-Aughton, overlooking the Crook O'Lune beauty spot on the River Lune close to Lancaster, within the Forest of Bowland AONB. The charity aims to restore the field into a species-rich wildflower hay meadow for the benefit of the public and biodiversity by planting native wildflowers, grasses and seeds of local provenance. The field is a community resource owned by Lancaster City Council, and a well-used footpath passing through it gives spectacular views along the Lune valley to Ingleborough.
