About this day out
Geàrrannan Blackhouse Village is a restored village of blackhouses dating from the 1800s in the Outer Hebrides, occupied by crofting families until the early 1970s and later declared a conservation area. Visitors can stay in self-catering blackhouse cottages or a hostel, and visit the Visitor Centre, Museum, Café and Shop on a coastal site with access to the coastal path.
When to go
Opening calendar
Monday to Saturday, 09:30–17:30. The Visitor Centre, Museum, Café and Shop are open from 30 March until the end of October 2026; self-catering cottages and the hostel are open year-round.
