About this day out

A fine Renaissance palace with an extensive formal garden and one of Britain's oldest tennis courts, inspired by the grand châteaux of France and transformed by successive Stuart royals into one of the finest surviving examples of Renaissance architecture in Scotland. Beloved by Mary, Queen of Scots, it features the oldest surviving real (royal) tennis court in the world and a Victorian-twist 'pleasure palace' experience with a garden, wildflower meadow, orchard and Physic Garden.

Accessibility: Level access to the garden from reception; the palace, royal tennis court, gift shop and plant sales are accessed via steep turnpike staircases or steps that are not accessible for wheelchairs, and there is no wheelchair or buggy access to the palace due to spiral staircases. Braille guide, large print information, handheld foldable seats and noise-cancelling headphones are available on request. A complimentary ticket policy for carers is in place.
Parking: No parking available on site, but there is free parking in the village at Back Wynd, a 5-minute walk from Falkland Palace.
Dogs: All dogs are allowed in the garden on a short lead (except the kitchen garden and bee haven); assistance dogs are welcome throughout the property, and water and treats can be provided.
