About this day out

The Essex Fire Museum brings the history of firefighting to life with a unique collection of historic fire engines, equipment, uniforms and photographs. Founded by former Grays firefighter Roger Pickett, it shows how firefighting has evolved through changing technology and techniques. It is located at Grays Fire Station, Hogg Lane, Grays, Essex, RM17 5QS, and all visits must be pre-booked.

Accessibility: The museum is all on one level and there is appropriate access for wheelchair users. Visitors should keep to the marked pedestrian pathway to the left of Grays Fire Station when walking from the parking area to the museum.
Parking: During open days or larger events, park on the grass outside the front of Grays Fire Station (keeping the exit pathway for operational fire appliances clear). For smaller group visits, there may be spaces in the yard outside the front of the museum; if not, park on the grass outside the front of Grays Fire Station.
