About this day out

Dunollie Museum, Castle and Grounds in Oban features a medieval castle ruin perched on a cliff with views across Oban Bay and the Isles. The 1745 House Museum charts the history of Dunollie Castle and the MacDougall Clan through hundreds of objects. Visitors can also enjoy the Kettle Garden Cafe, the Draper's Shop, a play park, trails and woodland grounds.

Accessibility: Paths from the carpark to Reception, the Kettle Garden Cafe and the museum are wheelchair accessible; accessible toilets are on the ground floor of the 1745 House Museum. The castle path involves a steep climb and is unsuitable for wheelchairs, but a handrail, carved seating and walking sticks are provided, and audio-visual experiences (including a 45-minute film) are being created for wheelchair users. Museum first floor is accessible (entrance 83cm wide); second floor is stairs only. Introductory handouts available in French, German and Spanish.
Parking: On-site carpark with the spaces closest to the site reserved as accessible parking for those who need them most.
Dogs: Dogs on a lead are welcome in outdoor areas, including the grounds and up to the Castle Ruin, and at the Kettle Garden Cafe's outdoor seating, but are not allowed in the 1745 House Museum, the Draper's Shop or the Loom Room.
