About this day out
Dinosaurland Fossil Museum is an independent museum in Coombe Street, Lyme Regis, owned and run by Palaeontologist Steve Davies, with a collection of more than 30,000 specimens. Displays include local Jurassic marine fossils ranging from microfossils to a large Ichthyosaur, a Time Gallery on geological time, a Natural History Room with present day shells, skeletons and taxidermy, and specialist collections. The building houses the museum is where fossil hunter Mary Anning was baptised, and the museum opened on 21st July 1995.
When to go
Opening calendar
Open every day from 1000 until 1600, daily between 1000 and 1600 from the start of the February half term to the end of the October half term. Closed over the winter to install new exhibits or go fossil hunting. No booking system required.
