About this day out
Chorleywood Common is a designated Local Nature Reserve owned and managed by Chorleywood Parish Council, gifted to the inhabitants of the parish in 1921 as a memorial to the men of Chorleywood who fell in the Great War. The Common features seven ponds, heathland areas where heather and gorse are returning, and a chalk meadow with an annual display of wild flowers and butterflies. It also includes a wooden adventure area, and the rangers offer volunteering opportunities, guided tours and seasonal wildlife walks.
