About this day out

Carisbrooke Castle Museum is the oldest museum on the Isle of Wight, established in 1898 by HRH Princess Beatrice, Queen Victoria's youngest daughter. Founded as a 'treasury of objects illustrating the history of the island', it now cares for over 37,000 items connected with Isle of Wight history. The museum is an independent charity located within Carisbrooke Castle, about 1.25 miles from Newport.

Parking: Onsite parking for around 150 cars, managed by English Heritage; there is a charge for parking but it is free for English Heritage members displaying a valid car sticker; the car park is approximately 215 metres from the Museum entrance
