Byland Abbey, once one of the greatest monasteries in England, is a free-to-visit early gothic site in Coxwold, North Yorkshire. A truly outstanding example of early gothic architecture, it inspired the design of the famous York Minster rose window. It is a perfect stop on a family day out or for those walking or cycling in the North York Moors National Park.
