About this day out

Bury Transport Museum, located in the restored Castlecroft Goods Warehouse from 1848 just across the road from Bury Bolton Street Station, brings the industrial heritage of the North West to life. It is packed with historic vehicles of every shape and size, including cars, trucks, buses and trains, plus a horse drawn tram that was once a chip shop. Hands-on exhibits, full-size vehicles and dozens of original artifacts from the turn of the 20th century and beyond recreate what life was like in the industrial North West.

Accessibility: Step-free entrance to the Museum Yard from Castlecroft Road (otherwise entry via steps down from Bolton Street); the cobbled Museum and Yard can be challenging for wheelchairs and those with reduced mobility. Lifts serve the Education Suite and the two overlooking platforms, and viewing from the platforms is advised for those with concerns accessing the cobbled floor.
Parking: Limited car parking facilities, including disabled badge spaces.
Dogs: No dogs allowed into the museum, except for official guide and assistance dogs.
