About this day out
Burledge Hill is a 12-hectare flower-rich grassland nature reserve on the north-eastern fringes of the Mendip Hills, overlooking Chew Valley Lake. The grassland includes cowslip, lady's mantle, saw-wort and devil's bit scabious, with butterflies abundant in summer and birds such as willow warbler, garden warbler and whitethroat singing from the scrub areas. Three fields are designated as a Site of Nature Conservation Interest (SNCI), and the site falls within the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) with panoramic views over the Chew Valley.
