About this day out

Bawdsey Radar Museum is housed in the conserved World War Two Transmitter Block at Bawdsey, Suffolk, the world's first RADAR station. Interactive exhibits explore the story of radar from 1935 to the present day, including WW2 aircraft tracking simulations, air traffic control, and radar's modern uses from Saturn's rings to medical scanners. The award-winning exhibition follows a major restoration of the transmitter block completed in 2016/7.

Accessibility: The exhibition space is designed to accommodate wheelchair users and people with limited mobility, with a gently sloped entrance ramp and plenty of room to manoeuvre. Toilets are close to the museum entrance with easy, level access on smooth paths; the accessible loo has a door width of 85cm.
Parking: Car park close to the museum, about 30m from the museum building; drop-off at the museum entrance is welcome.
Dogs: Dogs (except assistance dogs) are NOT allowed inside the museum; a shady area by the picnic tables and a water bowl are available.
