About this day out
Bathampton Meadow is a 10-hectare nature reserve of wet meadows and an ox-bow lake, abundant in migrant and water birds, butterflies and dragonflies. Created in 1996 to provide additional flood relief for the A46 Bathampton bypass, it attracts birds such as dunlin, ringed and little ringed plover, sandpipers, sand martins and kingfishers. There is no public access to the site, but birds can be viewed from the edge with a telescope.
